On Tuesday, June 7, the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce hosted a special groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate the start of construction for Lookout Credit Union Field at Pocatello High School Stadium. Representatives from Lookout Credit Union, Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 (PCSD 25), Pocatello High School, Pocatello Chiefs and members of the community attended the event.

In addition to the state-of-the-art turf field, the Lookout Credit Union Field construction project includes a new team room, concession stand, restrooms, video scoreboard, and extension of both the guest and home bleachers to accommodate up to 1400 fans. The stadium construction is slated to be completed for the multi-purpose outdoor turf facility on August 8.

Doug Chambers, Lookout President/CEO, said, “Lookout Credit Union is honored to be a part of this field partnership. We believe in what we do as a community and support our schools and the programs that help our youth grow and prosper. School District 25 has been an amazing partner over the years and we couldn’t be more excited to be involved with this huge milestone in helping move their 5-year facilities plan forward.”

The turf project is part of a 5-year facilities plan approved by the PCSD 25 Board of Trustees in September 2020. The 5-year plan is a big-picture, committee-led project designed to address PCSD 25 facilities with a bold, clear vision for the future.

The Outdoor Athletic Committee began meeting in the fall of 2019 and will continue to meet on an ongoing basis to determine the timeline to complete the 5-year plan. The committee consists of District athletic directors, administrators, city and county facility partners and parents. The committee’s “Why” is to promote and support equitable opportunities for athletics/activities while recognizing the profound ability for athletics to build relationships, cultivate pride and purpose, and bring the community together.

“This groundbreaking is a huge milestone for this project and we are so excited for those first Friday night lights to go on this fall,” said Tonya Wilkes, District Athletic Director. “This 5-year plan continues to be a game-changer for our school district and our community. Our partnership with Lookout Credit Union supports our vision that just about anything can happen when we dream big and do MORE together.”
