SD25 Ranks Among Idaho’s Top Large Districts for Graduation, Shows Solid Literacy Results

The Idaho Department of Education released data for the Fall Idaho Reading Indicator (IRI) and four-year graduation rate as part of its Idaho K–12 Report Card, providing insight into early literacy and long-term outcomes for students across the state.

The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 (PCSD 25 or SD25) serves a diverse and dynamic community of learners, including 46% from low-income families, 17% receiving special education services, and 1% identified as English language learners (ELL). The district remains committed to inclusive, high-quality instruction and equitable opportunities for every learner.

Each fall and spring, learners in kindergarten through third grade participate in the IRI, as required by Idaho Code 33-1806. Beginning in the 2025–26 school year, the assessment transitioned from Istation to Amira Learning, establishing a new, more rigorous baseline for literacy performance. Because the assessment design and scoring differ, results are not directly comparable to prior years. SD25 includes English language learners in its IRI results to ensure all learners’ progress is represented and to better inform instructional decisions.

On the Fall 2025 IRI, SD25 earned a 54.6% overall proficiency rate, closely aligned with the state average of 57.1%, with proficiency reaching 62.5% in third grade—a key indicator of early literacy progress.

The report card also highlights SD25’s strong graduation outcomes. PCSD 25 ranks consecutively among the top-performing large districts in Idaho with a four-year graduation rate of 89.9% and a five-year graduation rate of 92.6%.

Achievement Highlights:
Beyond these measures, SD25 learners continue to excel, with 99% participating in advanced opportunities and 31.4% earning industry-recognized certifications, exceeding state targets. Edahow Elementary School was named Idaho’s 2025 ESEA Distinguished School, a prestigious national honor awarded to only up to two schools per state. Edahow ranked in the top 15% of Idaho schools for academic growth in both English Language Arts and Math—reinforcing SD25’s commitment to high-quality instruction, academic growth, and learner success at every level.
