Start Here: Your Role as a Teacher Mentor

Your role is to:

Help learners understand the process.
Ask questions that help them develop their own ideas.
Help learners connect their experiences to the competencies.
Conduct regular progress check-ins.
Review required documentation.
Help learners identify next steps when they get stuck.
Monitor progress toward completion.

Your role is NOT to:

Design the project for the learner.
Become an expert in the learner's project topic.
Complete project work with them.
Find all of their community connections.
Turn Monday meetings into another class.
Evaluate whether their passion or interest is "academic enough."

For one learner, it might mean rebuilding a car.

For another, it's creating a work of art, leading a community event, launching a business, serving others, or telling stories through video.

No two journeys look the same—and that's the point.

Over the coming months, you'll learn how PCSD 25 is implementing the Future Readiness Project, a new Idaho graduation requirement designed to help learners explore their interests, develop real-world skills, and prepare for whatever comes next.
