40026 Introduction of Natural Resources – 1 Trimester – PHS 10 11
This course will provide the foundation for courses in the Natural Resources pathway, including Natural Resources, Fish and Wildlife, Range Science, Environmental Science, and Forestry Science. Students will understand principles of ecology and natural resources, the relationship between natural resources and ecosystem services, and the role ecosystem services play in various aspects of agricultural production. 40223 Range Science – 1 Trimester – PHS 10 11
Co-requisite: Introduction to Natural Resources
This course is an introduction to principles of range management, including history, regions, and physiological and ecological applications and planning. It will also include livestock nutrition in Western grazing systems and range animal and multiple-use management. This course is available for science credit. State code 185057
38891 Environmental Science Technology Applications – 1 Trimester – 2-hour block – PHS 11 12
Prerequisite: Range Science
This course introduces students to the multitude of environmental technologies used in real world applications including drone use, GPS, geospatial analysis, renewable energy production, agriculture systems, and environmental health/safety. Occupational health focuses include hazardous material conditions, which exist in the nation’s waterways, soil, and air. 40206 Zoology: Fish and Wildlife Science – 1 Trimester – PHS 11 12
Co-requisite: Environmental Science Technology
This course is designed to examine the importance of fish and wildlife science, outdoor recreation, and natural resources. The focus will be on the anatomy of plants and animals native to Idaho and the impact of the introduction of species that are not native to Idaho. This capstone course is designed to teach the concepts of conservation, natural resources, ecology, and fish/wildlife science. Students develop the knowledge, skills, tactics and procedures needed to research and manage natural resources Additional focus is place on outdoor recreation with an emphasis on the ethical use of natural resources.
