Our Stories

Coming from a family full of public school educators gave me confidence in the resources and systems in place to ensure that children don’t fall through the cracks. We know PCSD was the right choice because our autistic son has absolutely thrived in an environment that encourages him to rise to his potential and also meets him where he’s at.

Cheyenne Miller

Our love for this district not only comes from a line of passionate family educators and seeing their love and commitment for their students, but also the community and culture of belonging they have created... one where you become family with the faculty. We have received tremendous support from countless teachers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to give our child purpose and confidence.

Lance and Ashley Walker

As a lifetime resident of Pocatello, I find comfort having my children attend the same schools I went to as a child. I have experienced excellent communication from Wilcox, as well as multiple opportunities to be involved with my child's education.

Shaylee Higbee

In SD25, our children are part of a community where the principal knows them by name and teachers work closely with families to support student success. By incorporating student interests into the classroom, the school ensures every child is engaged and supported. It is the perfect fit for our family.

Allison Roxburgh

We chose public school here in Pocatello because we want our kids to grow up in our community, not just live in it. There’s something special about them learning, playing, and figuring out life alongside the same kids they see at the park, in the neighborhood, and at birthday parties. They get a mix of different personalities, backgrounds, and experiences that we could never create on our own, and that’s part of what helps them grow. Plus, it’s nice knowing we’re all in it together—teachers, families, and kids—doing our best and cheering each other on.

Stephanie Hancock

We choose our local public schools because of the strong sense of community, the incredible teachers, and the lasting friendships our kids build with the people they grow up with. We’ve felt so supported at Indian Hills and Irving, and we truly love being part of our neighborhood schools.

Whitney Morden

We chose our neighborhood public school because it offers a diverse and inclusive environment where children can learn alongside peers from many backgrounds and perspectives. The staff provides a feeling of community, cohesion, and compassion. I knew my child would be given opportunities to grow both inside and outside of the classroom.

Kaitlin Hansen

Sending our child to Indian Hills was a leap of faith after years of homeschooling with limited academic progress. Indian Hills was absolutely the right choice. The staff has surrounded our child, who has extra academic and health needs, with kindness, safety, and encouragement. His academic progress has exceeded what we thought possible. He goes to school happy every day. Indian Hills isn’t just a school to our family; it’s a community that made learning, and our peace of mind, possible again.

Adrienne Scott

We have had a wonderful experience at Indian Hills. Transitioning from a private school to a public school can be a scary process, but Indian Hills has been awesome. My daughter has really enjoyed her new school; she loves her teachers and has already made several friends. Everyone has made her feel super welcome.

Ashley Carey

In our 24 years living in Pocatello, we’ve raised five kids who have all attended the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District. Our interactions with principals and teachers have shown us they truly care about each student’s growth and success. They provide a supportive, welcoming environment where children are challenged and encouraged to do their best academically and personally. We feel blessed to be a part of this wonderful community of educators and learners.

LaChere Vawdrey

Growing up in a family of educators where higher education was encouraged, a quality education is incredibly important. We choose the district because of the extra intervention time, pushing him where he's excelling and helping review what he is struggling with. He loves school and feels loved, encouraged and accepted by everyone at the school.

We continue to choose the Pocatello-Chubbuck School District because of its strong commitment to students as individuals. The teachers truly care about my children’s academic growth and emotional well-being. Gate City Elementary, in particular, makes us feel welcomed and supported, helping our family feel valued and connected as an international family.

Celal Perihan

We choose Pocatello/Chubbuck School District, especially Gate City Elementary because we love the welcoming, inclusive, trusting, and knowledgeable teachers and staff. We appreciate the extra resources that are available to help learners who need extra support in our district. This service was a BIG game changer for us and our learner. They are now on the road to success, because they were SEEN as an individual learner with potential and not just "another student".

Karissa Kam

As a parent of five children across multiple grade levels, including children with additional needs, our experience has been shaped by the dedication of teachers and school administrators who truly see and value each child. Public education matters to our family because it is rooted in inclusion, access, and a commitment to serving every student, not just some. The educators in our schools have listened, supported our family, and worked in partnership with us to help our children succeed, which is why we continue to choose public education.

Samantha Stoddard

We have experience with private, charter, and public schools within SD25.  Our children are currently spread from elementary school on to college.  And while each option has its benefits, we ultimately utilized and have been very satisfied with SD25 for the schooling of our children.  Primarily, the close knit community, caring teaching staff, and educational foundation provided by Edahow Elementary is and was a driving factor in our decision and one from which each of our children has benefited greatly.

Mike Spitzer

The teacher I will never forget is Ms. Phelps. She helped me through all of 5th grade, the toughest grade for me but she stuck with me through the thick and thin. Ms. Phelps was the best teacher I’ve ever had. I finished the year strong thanks to her encouragement, helpfulness and support. Xavier M.

I love that she holds kids accountable. She has the kids in charge of their homework to make sure it gets returned weekly. Mrs. Gannon has brought my super shy son out of his shell and has given him confidence. She takes each child's weaknesses and helps them turn it into a strength. She celebrates their successes and improvements, no matter how small.Jennifer K. ~ Parent

Whether through thoughtful gestures, listening, or words of encouragement, Ms. Senecker helps foster a positive and trusting environment. Her work with learners—particularly in providing a calm space for de-escalation—helps them return to learning with confidence.

Ms. Curzon, 5th Grade Teacher

Devin exemplifies qualities that make him a respected, compassionate, and influential presence both in the classroom and on the playground. He is a great example of a KIND Cougar!

Ms. Curzon, 5th Grade Teacher

Mr. Barton is a quiet, compassionate educator. He has been a part of our school district for over 20 years and in that time has experienced many changes in technology, curriculum, programs, innovations, and policies. Through all of that, I have never heard him speak an unkind word or share a negative thought about anyone or anything. Mr. Barton has a fabulous sense of humor and engages students in learning through funny voices, animated stories, and focused and targeted instruction. Mr. Barton is well-loved by our entire Wilcox community.

Mrs. Campos, Principal

Bennett walks into my classroom at the beginning of the day with a happy attitude and a smile on his face and leaves with that same smile. At the beginning of the school year, we talked about the difference between growth and fixed mindset. Bennett is always good about thinking and acting with a growth mindset. I appreciate when he helps his classmates focus on their growth mindset. I feel like Bennett is a good example to me and his classmates of one who shows good character, attitude, kindness and encouragement.

Ms. Kathryn Crandall, 3rd Grade Teacher

Anastasia works hard to increase her learning and helps others when she can. She uses school signals to guide her classmates without talking. She is always willing to help in the classroom and is kind to those around her resulting in the building of good friendships. She has stepped out of her comfort zone to participate, leading others that are shy or new to our school to do the same. When classwork proves challenging, grit is applied before questions are asked. She is thoughtful with her actions and words. She is a huge asset to our class.

Ms. Teresa Lewis, 3rd Grade Teacher

Bryson makes sure a younger schoolmate gets home safely every day; including in the random intense snowstorm. I was so pleased to hear of this unusual example of compassion and caring, and the example set by a 4th grade young man to a kindergarten little boy. Way to go Bryson! Thank you for all you do and keep helping others!

Ms. Sluder

Mr. Barton is one of the funniest teachers I’ve ever had and made sure everyone had fun in his class. He taught me that school can be rewarding and impacted my life long skills by teaching me that hard work isn’t bad, but helps you grow and learn.

Venna F.

Ms. Dayley helps me understand math and understanding math will help me get a good education and a good job in the future. She is a kind teacher, she helps us when we need help and she knows what’s best.

Ranon B.

Mr. Sturgis is the best elementary teacher I have ever had. Mr. Sturgis has done incredible things that have made me respect not just him, but other teachers as well. He has not only made me want to come to school, which is an achievement in itself, but he has also made me want to learn.

Ada F.

When I walked into my 3rd grade class I knew this was going to be a good year. Ms. Bidwell taught me lifelong skills by teaching me multiplication and money skills. She inspired me to go to school happier and lastly she has helped me set goals for the future of my life.

Erik A.

Julie is able to talk problems through at the learners' level and makes sure all voices are heard. She is sure to get to the bottom of an issue no matter how long it takes. She has taken on our school's new behavior system to help make it a success by following through with every detail. She calls parents when needed and meets with teachers often to keep them in the loop of what is happening with our learners. The best thing about Julie is that she does it all with a smile and a positive attitude! She works well with the staff and is so fun to be around! She makes our school a special place for learners and staff to succeed!

Ms. Leslie Rowe, teacher

Throughout my years of elementary school I struggled with reading, I was slower than the other kids. Then I met my wonderful 5th grade teacher Ms. Phelps, she made every subject fun. She helped me so much with my reading and writing, she inspired me to work harder. She will always be my favorite teacher.

Deelia H. (former student)

Mrs. Austin has inspired me to go for my dreams no matter how high they may be. She is a huge part of the person I am and who I am becoming. Mrs. Austin is truly the best teacher I have ever had.

Dylan W. (Former student)

I love helping learners progress and achieve their goals. It's absolutely wonderful to watch them learn and grow.

Avis Pickens

I love teaching because I can give a child the love, attention and support they need to learn and grow, not only in school but in life.
